Here at STAG we wash rocks! Yes it sounds a bit far fetched and different but there are actually really important reasons as to why we do this for our clients.
When we are able to supply our clients with larger rocks and stones from our local area that has not come from our local quality supplier, we are not only passing on great savings to our clients from sourcing the stone in a local and affordable manner but we are also implementing procedures and steps to ensure our new landscape project is of high quality.
To do this we wash the rock sand stones. The reasons as to why we do this is as follows:
- Pest Control –Debris accumulation can attract pests like all types of ants, cockroaches, snails and rodents;by washing the rock and stone we are able to ensure no pests are being transferred to our new landscape project.
- Safety – Moss and fungi can make rocks slippery, posing a safety hazard especially if the rock is placed in high traffic areas.
- Weed Control – Soil buildup between rocks provides a place for weed seed to germinate, which we do not want in our new landscape project.
- Maintaining Rock Integrity – Over time growth of moss and algae can erode the surface of the rock. By washing this from the rock or stone we are helping restore the rock or stones integrity.
- Aesthetics – Clean rock or stone is visually appealing and with the colours and tones of the rock or stone we are able to complement the overall landscape design for our clients.
